Fulfilled prophesy is one of the many proofs we have that the Bible is completely accurate and it is something that sets the Bible apart from every other religious book. Of the 26 other religious books which are believed to be divinely inspired, by those in other religions (the Vedas, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Mahabharata, the Upanishads, the Qur'an, the Book of Mormon, the Tripitaka, etc.), not even one of them contains any specific, fulfilled prophecies!
The Bible is filled with hundreds of specific, detailed prophecies that were written hundreds of years before their fulfillment! In fact, 27% of the Bible (more than 1 out of 4 verses) contains what was predictive prophecy at the time that it was written. The authors of the Bible did not just predict some vague things (like Nostradamus), they were very specific. Many of these prophecies can also be proven through archaeology.
Messianic Prophecies:
The most striking examples of Bible prophecy are surely the predictions about the coming Messiah or “the anointed One”, who was foretold centuries before He was born. Jesus Christ fulfilled every single one of the more than 300 Messianic Prophecies that were spoken about Him by the Old Testament prophets, to the last detail. These prophecies have undeniable accuracy even though they were recorded by numerous writers into various books over a thousand year period. We are assured that these prophecies were not conspired due to the Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint, which existed prior to Jesus' time on earth. His fulfillment of these prophecies is more than spectacular if you consider the odds and the nature of them. The Messiah had to be born of the seed of Abraham
(Genesis 12:1-3)(Genesis 22:18), of the tribe of Judah
(Genesis 49:10), of the house of David
(2 Samuel 7:12), in the city of Bethlehem
(Micah 5:2), and most impressively, of a virgin
(Isaiah 7:14). What makes these prophecies even more amazing is the fact that no one has any control over their ancestry. Furthermore, He had to come while the temple was still standing
(Malachi 3:1). He had to work miracles, such as giving sight to the blind, making the lame walk and giving hearing to the deaf
(Isaiah 35:5-6). The Messiah would be rejected by His own people
(Psalm 118:22)(1 Peter 2:7). He had to die at a precise time in history, 483 years after the declaration to reconstruct the city of Jerusalem in 444 B.C.
(Daniel 9:24-26) and then He had to rise from the dead
(Psalm 16:10)(Acts 2:27-32). These and hundreds other prophecies have been literally fulfilled by Jesus Christ. Since these prophecies were written down at least 400 years before they happened, there is no doubt that the Bible’s writers were inspired supernaturally by God.

Fulfilled Prophecy Dealing With Nations:
Many prophecies can be proven through archaeology, especially those dealing with entire nations. Typically, after declaring judgment on a nation, God would send a prophet to announce why He was judging them, what He was going to do to them if they continued in their evil behavior, and even occasionally, how He would reward them if they turned from their wickedness and repented. Like other prophecy recorded in the Bible, these predictions support the supernatural inspiration of the Bible. The prophecies recorded in the Bible came true in such a detailed way that they could not have been predicted by chance. Furthermore, archaeologists have proven evidence, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, which validate the fact that these prophecies were written down many years before they were fulfilled. The foretelling of the destruction of Edom and its capital city of Petra, as well as the destruction of the city of Tyre, are just two examples out of many. Edom was overthrown and the nation and city have become a desolation
(Ezekiel 25:12-13)(Ezekiel 35:1-8)(Isaiah 34:10-13). It has never been populated again
(Jeremiah 49:15-18). It has had bloody history
(Ezekiel 25:12-13)(Ezekiel 35:1-8) and Edom became populated with wild animals and birds, instead of people
(Isaiah 34:11-15). The city of Tyre also had remarkable prophecies concerning it and Nebuchadnezzar overthrew it in 573 BC
(Isaiah 23:13)(Ezekiel 26:8). 70 years later, when the Persians overthrew Babylon, Tyre recovered to prosper fairly well
(Isaiah 23:15-17). Furthermore, Cyrus, king of Persia, forced Tyre to contribute materials to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem
(Isaiah 23:18). Alexander destroyed it in 332 BC, and it was completely destroyed by the Saracens in 1291 AD
(Ezekiel 26:14).
Prophecies Concerning Israel:
Many of the prophets in the Bible spoke concerning Israel and many prophecies were about the restoration of the land of Israel as a politically functioning nation in the latter days
(Isaiah 11:10-12)(Jeremiah 23:3-8)(Jeremiah 30:3-11)(Ezekiel 37:11-28)(Ezekiel 38:8). After the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD by General Titus of Rome, the Jews were scattered around the world and they had no homeland or country of their own for more than 1800 years. The literal fulfillment of these prophecies was thought by many to be impossible, but in May of 1948 the establishment of the Jewish State of Israel was announced and recognized by the UN. Not much comes close in comparison to this remarkable fulfillment of Bible prophecy and this has never happened to any other nation in history.
After examining the overwhelming evidence of fulfilled prophecy, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament, you have to come to the conclusion, as numerous Christian and secular scholars have, that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God and that it is totally accurate. We can trust, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the Bible is historically and archaeologically reliable.
