How can a False Teacher influence me? |

False Teachers may lead you in wrongful understanding of God's Word through clever and sly twists of Scripture. Many seemingly wise theologians, philosophers and professors get away with this in the name of 'academic studies' yet, they are unstable (unsaved) and untaught by God's Holy Spirit.
"- as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" - 2 Peter 3:15-17
They will benefit unjustly from your ignorance of God's Words and deceive you to do their bidding.
"By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber." - 2 Peter 2:3
They will lure you away from the truth of God's Word through teachings that will appeal to your flesh and sooths your pride. Modern self-help psychology are a good example of this.
"For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error." - 2 Peter 2:18
